Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information the SaveLocal Android app ("the App"), published by Trishunya Infotech ("we", "us"), handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. The App adds a "save to device" action to Android's Share Sheet.

In short: SaveLocal does not require an account and never uploads your files, file names, or save history - they stay on your device. The App does use two third-party SDKs that collect limited technical data to help us understand usage and measure advertising performance. Full detail is below.

1. Information we do not collect

Regardless of the SDKs described below, the App never collects or requires: your name, email address, phone number, physical address, government ID, financial or payment information, contacts, SMS messages, call logs, precise location, camera or microphone access, or Facebook login. It does not upload your files, file names, or save history, and it does not display ads.

2. Analytics and advertising-attribution SDKs we use

The App uses two third-party SDKs that collect limited technical data:

  1. Google Firebase Analytics collects anonymous usage events (for example, that a file was saved, the number of files in a share, whether a save succeeded, or that a legal link was opened) and standard device and app information (app version, Android version, device model, approximate country, first open). We use it to understand how the App is used and to improve it. Advertising-ID collection by Firebase is disabled.
  2. Meta (Facebook) SDK for Android reports app install and app-open events, app version, device and OS information, and your device's Android Advertising ID (if you have not reset or opted out of it) to Meta each time the App is opened. We use this only to measure which Meta advertising campaigns lead to installs of SaveLocal, and to improve our own advertising. SaveLocal does not show ads and does not use Facebook login.

Neither SDK ever receives your file names, file contents, or save history. We also use the Google Play Install Referrer API, read by the Meta SDK, to learn which ad or link an install came from.

We do not sell your personal information. Data collected by these SDKs is processed by Google and Meta under their own privacy policies: policies.google.com/privacy and facebook.com/privacy/policy.

3. Regional consent (EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If the App detects that you are in the European Union or European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, it shows a first-run dialog asking you to Allow or Don't allow these measurement tools before anything is collected. Choosing "Don't allow" keeps both SDKs off. Outside these regions, measurement is on by default, consistent with this policy. Wherever you are, you can turn measurement off - or back on - at any time in Settings > Privacy inside the App.

4. Your choices

You can reset or delete your Android Advertising ID, and opt out of ads personalisation generally, in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads. You can turn SaveLocal's own analytics and attribution measurement off at any time in the App's Settings > Privacy. To ask questions or request help with your data, email infotech.trishunya+savelocal@gmail.com.

5. Files you share with the App

When you choose SaveLocal from the Share Sheet, the sending app gives Android temporary access to the file(s) you shared. The App reads each file and copies it into the folder you have chosen (Downloads by default). The contents of your files are not analysed, scanned, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere, and we never receive a copy of them.

6. Information stored only on your device

The App keeps two small sets of data locally, using Android's standard app storage:

This data is never transmitted to us or to the SDKs above. It is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its storage.

7. Permissions the App requests, and why

PermissionPurpose
Storage - write (Android 9 and older only)Needed by those older Android versions to write into the public Downloads folder. On Android 10 and newer the App saves through Android's scoped storage and requests no storage permission.
Access to a folder you choose (optional)Only if you select a custom save folder. Android's own folder picker grants the App access to that one folder, which you can change or reset to Downloads at any time.
InternetUsed by Firebase Analytics and the Meta SDK to transmit the anonymous usage and attribution events described in section 2. Your files are never sent over this connection.

The App does not request access to Bluetooth, camera, microphone, contacts, or location.

8. Third-party service providers

We share limited, non-identifying technical data with:

Files you save through the App come from other apps such as messaging or email apps. Those apps are governed by their own privacy policies, as is any app you later use to open a saved file.

9. Where saved files end up

Files saved to Downloads or another shared folder are stored like any other file on your device. Other apps that you have allowed to access that storage, and anyone who has access to your unlocked phone, may be able to see them. SaveLocal does not encrypt or hide the files it saves.

10. Device backups

If you use Android's device backup, Android (not us) may include the App's settings and save history in your backup to your Google account, and restore them when you set up a new device. That process is handled by Google under its own terms. We do not have access to such backups.

11. Data retention and deletion

On-device data is deleted the moment you uninstall the App or clear its storage. Files you have already saved are separate from the App and remain on your device until you delete them yourself, for example from the Files app. Because the App does not use accounts, there is no server-side profile of you to delete; to limit what Meta associates with your device going forward, reset your Advertising ID as described in section 4.

12. Children's privacy

SaveLocal is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it.

13. Security

We do not operate a server that stores your personal data, which limits our exposure to data breaches affecting you directly. The App's internet use is limited to the analytics and attribution events described in section 2; it never transmits your files. Shared files are treated as untrusted input: the App only copies them, never runs them, and cleans up file names that contain characters a file system cannot store.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including if the SDKs or data described above change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
